‘At The Lake’ is the new collaborative single from Bristol-based quartet Langkamer and alt-folk visionary The Golden Dregs. The band, moving away from their distinctive slacker-rock sound, have established a unique tone with this one. Its gritty, mournful sound is juxtaposed by folky Americana influences, with Josh Law (of Getdown Servies) adding banjo flourishes here and there. The end result might be their most emotive release to date. They describe it as “a song about the fallout of binge drinking culture, and the prestige that we attach to the idea of the poète maudit. The way we romanticise unhealthy behaviour in the name of creativity.” The band are dropping a new album, Langzamer, on October 16th, 2024, via Breakfast Records. -Dan Peeke
